Amongst the many fabulous Lake District wedding venues, some stand out as being that little bit extra special, unusual or quirky with their own unique, distinctive character. Here's a selection of the best wedding venues with a difference, for those that want a wedding day experience that's truly special. While I have no commercial ties to any of these extraordinary venues, I've had the pleasure to work at each of them and can highly recommend them all!
Augill Castle - Castle Wedding Venue of the Year in 2018 - is a magnificent mock castle country house and family home which offers a unique wedding experience whether you want an intimate ceremony with afternoon tea or a lavish two day castle house party-style wedding. Furnished as a family home in true country house style, it comes with extensive grounds, a miniature cinema, music room with grand piano and a help-yourself honesty bar.
A luxurious 'boutique' wedding venue that's also the home of Caroline and Steve who will look after you from the day you first enquire until you've enjoyed the wedding of your dreams. Whether it's just the two of you or up to 24 of you including your guests, you'll enjoy the same outstanding experience. Cote How boasts a historic farmhouse, barn and courtyard with 3 luxurious bedrooms and beautiful gardens for you and your guests to enjoy. Situated on the Western shore of Derwentwater, the Lingholm Estate is a grand Victorian mansion that is home to the Seymour family and caters for weddings large and small. In addition to the historic main house, there are a number of cottages in the grounds available for guests, including a boat house by the water. Lingholm also boasts its own jetty should you want to arrive by boat from Keswick or book a lake cruise as part of your special day.
New House Farm
New House Farm can be found in the gorgeous Lorton valley, surrounded by Lake District fells. The magnificent Hayloft barn is yours to dress in your own style and holds up to 130 guests for your fairytale wedding. Outside, the majestic fells provide a wonderful backdrop for your family photos and there's a beautiful pond for some gorgeous photographs at sunset. Three of the Lake Districts finest lakes - Buttermere, Crummockwater and Loweswater - are just down the road too, for some romantic lakeside photos during the day.
A beautiful Georgian manor and coach house, Silverholme Manor offers sweeping views across Windermere and the fells beyond. The venue is exclusively yours for weddings from 20 to 200 guests with accommodation on offer in the many cottages around the Graythwaite Estate. Several locations around the house and coach house are licenced for ceremonies, or you could choose an outdoor, humanist wedding at the iconic Grubbins Point which is a short distance from the house down by the lake.
