Once we’ve finished your couple portraits, I’ll pop inside to photograph the set up and details of your wedding breakfast before capturing you and your guests as you come in and take your seats:

  • While toasts or speeches were traditionally made after the wedding breakfast, this is much less common nowadays. Many weddings now have their speeches at the start of the meal so that everyone can relax and enjoy the meal with all the formalities concluded. Whenever you choose to have toasts or speeches, just let me know and I’ll be there to capture them for you

  • Traditionally, speeches were made by the father of the bride, groom and the groom's best man, but whether you're having a traditional or non-traditional wedding, it's your day so it's entirely your choice who you'd like to make a speech or propose a toast or indeed, whether you'd like any speeches at all!

  • Whether you choose to have your speeches soon as your food is served, I’ll take a break and get things ready for the evening while you eat - you probably don’t want pictures of yourselves eating!

  • Do let me know if you have any surprises planned during the meal so I can make sure I capture them for you. For example, if it’s someone’s birthday and you have a cake for them or have arranged for a magician to entertain people at their tables or perhaps have a singing waiter!

  • Nowadays most couples that choose to have a wedding cake, cut their cake at the start of the evening reception, but if you'd like to cut your cake at some point during your wedding breakfast, just let me know and I'll make sure to get some pictures for you when you do it

Meanwhile, I’ll also be keeping an eye on the weather while you eat, as immediately after your wedding breakfast finishes is often a good time to sneak out for a couple of sunset or night portraits (depending on the time of year) before your evening reception starts.
